Nissan Navara vs Ford Ranger (2026)

Both of these sell on comfort rather than brute simplicity, which makes them natural rivals. The Navara has long been the ride-quality pick, with a coil-sprung rear on many trims that softens the empty-bed harshness pickups are notorious for. The Ranger answered by becoming the best-riding, best-equipped truck in the class outright — and adding a V6 nobody else offers.

Leads marks the better figure on that row only. Capability specs are trade-offs — more ground clearance usually costs stability, more towing usually costs ride comfort — so the vehicle with more marks is not automatically the right one. Read the verdict below.

Prices are an approximate PH SRP for a flagship 4x4 variant; capability figures are the manufacturer’s quoted 4x4 figures (trim/market differences noted on each model page). Conversions are approximate at ≈₱61 = US$1 (mid-2026); exchange rates move, so treat the converted figures as ballpark.

Nissan Navara vs Ford Ranger: the real trade-offs

Ride and refinement

The Navara's multi-link coil rear suspension is its signature: unladen, it rides more like an SUV than a leaf-sprung workhorse. The Ranger counters with the class's best overall on-road manners — better steering feel, a quieter cabin and far more modern tech. The Navara is softer over bad surfaces; the Ranger is more composed overall. Test both unladen on roads you actually drive.

Power

The Ranger leads: its 2.0 Bi-Turbo makes 207 hp and 500 Nm against the Navara's 187 hp and 450 Nm from a 2.5 twin-turbo, and the optional 3.0 V6 lifts it to roughly 247 hp and 600 Nm. Both tow 3,500 kg braked, but the Ranger does it with more headroom.

Off-road geometry — a split decision

The Navara actually wins on angles: a 32° approach and 27° departure against the Ranger's 30° and 26°, which helps on steep entries and exits. But the Ranger takes wading decisively, at 800 mm against just 600 mm — the Navara's weakest number by some distance, and a real constraint in flood-prone areas. Ground clearance goes to the Ranger too, 234 mm against 228 mm. Both have low range and a rear diff lock.

Cabin and technology

Not close. The Ranger's 12-inch portrait touchscreen, drive modes and driver aids are a generation ahead, and on V6 models the 4A permanent four-wheel-drive mode lets you run 4WD on any surface. The Navara's cabin is pleasant but plainer and older in feel.

Price and value

The Navara undercuts it — around ₱1.7M against roughly ₱1.9M for a Ranger 4x4 — and delivers the better angles and the softer unladen ride for the money. The Ranger asks more and justifies it with power, wading depth, technology and resale.

Which should you buy?

Buy the Ford Ranger if you want the complete truck — more power, 800 mm of wading, the best cabin in the class and a V6 option with permanent 4WD. It is the better vehicle and, if the pickup doubles as the family car, worth the premium. Buy the Nissan Navara if you want the softest unladen ride and the better approach and departure angles for less money, and you rarely face deep water. Just take that 600 mm wading figure seriously before a rainy-season commute.

Choose the Nissan Navara

Buyers who prize a soft unladen ride and strong approach/departure angles, at a lower price, and who rarely wade.

Nissan Navara vs Ford Ranger FAQ

Which rides better, the Navara or the Ranger?

Unladen, the Navara is famously soft thanks to its coil-sprung multi-link rear, which takes the edge off the harshness pickups are known for. The Ranger is the more composed and better-steering vehicle overall with a quieter cabin. Softness goes to the Navara; all-round refinement goes to the Ranger.

How deep can each one wade?

The Ranger quotes 800 mm; the Navara only about 600 mm. That is the Navara's clearest weakness and it matters in flood-prone conditions — 200 mm is a large margin when the water is rising.

Which tows more?

Both are rated at 3,500 kg braked. The Ranger has more torque to do it with — 500 Nm from the Bi-Turbo, or about 600 Nm from the optional V6, against the Navara's 450 Nm — so it feels more relaxed under a heavy load.

Is the Navara good off-road?

Yes, and better than its reputation on geometry: 32°/27° approach and departure beat the Ranger, and it has low range plus a rear diff lock. Its limits are wading depth and outright power, not fundamental capability.
